Writings about personal growth

"The Bipolar Advantage" was the first writing I had ever done. It got me started on the writing path and changed my life. Looking back, it was very raw and unpolished, yet had an authenticity that I am afraid to change. It also served as a marker for where I was at the time, along with my hope that I could grow into a better person.

As I learned lessons about myself, I occasionally have written articles that I am hoping have shown some growth and maturity. In sharing these writings I am hoping I can both help others and hear input that will help further my own growth too. At the end of each article, there is the opportunity to add your own comments; please do. The comments will be posted at the end of the article.

What is Functionality? by Tom Wootton
This article radically changes the definition of functionality to include depression as a highly functional experience.

Most of 2007 was spent finishing The Depression Advantage book. I Want To Be A Better Person, The Art Of Seeing Depression, and What Is Functionality? were rewritten and incorporated into the new book along with many more new ideas. There is a good chance that future articles will become the basis of the next book. By checking back periodically and commenting on the articles you will see the progress of the next book and have influence on its direction.
